BrewDog- Tokyo*

Tokyo*- Russian Imperial Stout (or 'intergalactic stout')- BrewDog
16,5% Imperial Stout with cranberry, jasmine, vanilia.
Today something special- not only mine review (described as M.) but also impressions from Lady J. She's not drinking too many beers, but we had some good stuff together. She's not into Imperial Stouts though. More like Imperial IPA's or sour beers. Or Samuel's Smith Organic Chocolate Stout (is there any woman that dont like this beer?)

Black beer, ruby reflexes, but even some tanned head on top (didnt expect that with 16% beer).

J: some jasmine in aroma, classic cocoa, chocolate, a little of acidy note like in kvass. Cant find the cranberries.

M: Jasmine for sure, hint of ash, lot of milk chocolate, vanilla, something like sweet cranberry. A little bit of booze.

Taste:
J: at first pretty sweet, than sourish note, reminding of sour coffe's. Stouty notes in aftertaste.

M: Very sweet, light bitter, fruity sour-like notes of red fruits. Flavours of cocoa, chocolate, esspecially very sweet milk chocolate, than vanilla, some floral jasmine note as well, and a lot of red fruit- cranberries I quess.

Palate:
J: I could drink that as juice, totally not feeling this 16%. Not very thick, we tried thicker beers, but not watery as well.

M: yep, alcohol well hidden, a little bit of spice on the side of the tongue and a little bit of warming my throat. Medium body, not as thick and oily as I expected for 16,5% RIS. Of course low carbonation. And of course it's more on the sweet side than dry, altough the red fruits flavours makes the finish a little bit vineous.

Overall:
J: I liked it alot, I could drink it like juice but it has 16% :( BTW I usually dont like Imperial Stouts.

M: Very good. Tasty, pleasant, but to be honest, I expected a little bit more though from such badass beer- esspecially thicker body and more intense aroma. I like that jasmine and cranberries are nicely present, but did not kill the beer. Really good stuff, would love to try this aged in some barrels. Calvados barrels could fit nicely. Well, but it's still on of the better not aged in barrels imperial stouts that I had this year... altough, a few good ones still to come.

Foodpairing- awsome with good polish Bigos ;)
