Evil Twin Brewing- Soft DK

Yey, another review in english!
Well, I decided that polish craft will be reviewed in polish, but foreign I'll try to review in english. Because why the hell no?
It's and international stout day, and it's part 2 of it. 1st was polish "Gravedigger Blended BA" by Brokreacja, now it's time for Imperial Stout from my favourite foreign brewery.

Because I love many foreign beers and breweries, but the one that was always pretty nicely avaible, with brilliant stuff and was always outstanding for me is Evil Twin Brewing. Yep. Deifnitly.

So, today it's time for...

Soft DK- Imperial Stout- Evil Twin Brewing

The story on the label says that Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø came up with idea of this beer when he was changing his son's diaper. Mmmmm, yummy!

A little bit of hiss while opening, no smoke from the bottle.

Very sweet aroma from bottle. A lot of porto/cherry notes.

Jet black beer in the glass (altough it's pretty wide, but bought it today, so whatever), 1 finger of nice, tanned colour head.

Aroma: Very strong, sweet, mainly porto/cherry notes and licorie. Cocoa, dark chocolate is here as well. I've drunk before The Gravedigger, which was strong, agressive, in your face beer, with tones of roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, coffe. Here is totally different type of aroma, when the main role has the oxidation and age of beer.

Taste:
What the fuck I'm getting a banana. And honey. Yep, definitly a honey. Maybe not banana.
Ok, so: there's light to medium sweet, with nicely balanced, light bitterness. A little hint of sour or tartness from age of the beer, maybe from dark malts.
Nice chocolate.
And yes, it has this milky-banana flavour to it. Like a dessert.

Palate: that's the most suprising part of this beer. It's let's say medium bodied, but seems pretty dry, esspecially after previous RIS that I had today. It still have all this nice sweetness, but it's way more... I would say balanced, but that's not the word. More like... more subtle. Previous one (The Gravedigger) raped my palate so hard (in good meaning). It still have pretty strong aftertaste (as most of Imperial Stout's does). The other suprising fact is pretty high, at least for this style of beer, saturation. From one hand, this beer with low saturation might be considered as more boring, from the other hand... I really prefer Imperial Stout's to be low saturated. Or even flat.

Overall: Very good imperial stout. Might be not outstanding stuff, but I've drunk it with a big pleasure. After some time, when this milky/vanilla and banana flavour comes along, it's getting really, really good.

Extra: Time to blend!
Soft DK+ a little bit of polish Mead (or miód pitny if you will), dwójniak AM from Jaros Meadery.

Since I decided to blend a previous RIS, and I still have just a little bit of mead, I got to blend this as well!

Aroma: I put only a little bit of mead, but it dominated aroma totally. Sweet honey and fruits flavours almost all the way.

Taste: now sweet goes up, bitter goes down, you get this meady-fruity flavour, as well as some chocolate.

Palate: dry finish and high saturation are even more transparent. Also, it become a little bit alcoholy.

With all the respect for Soft DK and Evil Twin, because this stout is still pretty good, The Gravedigger Blended BA was way more agressive, intensive, and went together with mead way better. Soft DK is too... soft. Mead just crashed it.
